Compare schools

Put up to six schools side by side on the official figures — without turning unlike measures into one misleading score.

How to compare schools

  1. Find a school by name, town, local authority or postcode.
  2. Use the plus button in a school list, or Add to comparison on its page.
  3. Select up to six schools and open the comparison tray.

What the comparison includes

School type, ages, size and capacity; historic Ofsted grades or current report-card status; key stage 2, GCSE and sixth-form measures where they genuinely apply; admissions demand; pupil-intake context; and the neighbourhood around each school.

How to read the differences

A higher result is not proof of better teaching: attainment is strongly related to intake. Ofsted's historic overall grades and current report cards are different systems, missing figures are not zero, and a fixed catchment boundary cannot predict this year's offers. The comparison keeps those caveats next to the numbers.
