Two things most school sites still get wrong
Ofsted now reports separate areas, not one overall grade
12,992 schools still carry a one-word grade from July 2024 or earlier. Ofsted withdrew overall grades in September 2024 and introduced report cards in November 2025, with separate judgements for areas such as curriculum, achievement and inclusion. We show the dated system each school was actually inspected under.
League position mostly measures intake
Raw attainment tracks how advantaged a school's pupils are more than it tracks the school. Every school page here also shows where it sits against schools with a similar intake, and for secondaries it reads Progress 8 through its confidence interval — so a school that is statistically average is described as average, not ranked 412th.
